Create New Task UI

Create tasks for projects (scenes) or assets (builds) easy using this create tasks UI.

The options are as follow:

  • Job – Select the job you want this task to belong to. (By default, this fields is locked to the current Job you have selected in the Project manager)
  • Type – Decide whether this task is a Build task or a Scene task.
    • Build – For assets and elements
    • Scene – For project specific levels.
  • Task Category – Choose from a list of task categories, for example:
    • animation (Scene)
    • lighting (Scene)
    • model (Build)
    • rig (Build)
  • Entity Category – This list will change depending on the task Type.
    • Scene Entity Categories :
      • Feature
      • Commercial
      • Series
      • Game
      • VR
      • Web
      • Venue
    • Build Entity Categories are based on the categories you create in the Asset Manager.
  • Entity – For a Scene, this would be the project name. For Build, this would be the asset name or element name.
  • Scene (Scene) – This is the level in the project you want the task made for.
  • Scene Task Name (Scene) – This is a list of sub-tasks correlating to the Task Category. For Scenes, this is super convenient to be able to add multiple tasks of a similar category to levels. An example of this would be:
    • A project has a shot with digital characters, vehicles and moving props. Instead of having one artist doing all the work for that shot, you can separate the animation task to multiple sub-tasks so that more animators can work on the same shot but not have to work in the same file.
  • Build Type (Build) – “3D” for assets, “2D” for elements.
  • 3D Branch (Build) – If the task type is “build” and the build type is “3D” then this field will appear to allow you to select the branch for the asset you want tasked.
  • Build Task Name – This is the asset variation or element type you want the artist working on.
  • 3D Grade (Build) – This is the grade (quality level) selection of the asset part. For example:
    • proxyRig (low level quality rig for previz animations)
    • animRig (higher quality rig for final animations)
  • Status – The initial status of the task.
  • Description – Describe the task. It is best to put in as much clear detail as you can in a task so the artist has a clear understanding as to what is needed.
